Night of 30th

Seemed like an ideal night up here, with threatening cloud build up and only enough rain to make splash marks in the dust overnight. Only 25 species recorded in the traps. Spruce Carpet not recorded here often, New for year being Red twin-spot carpet, Lychnis, Marbled Minor, Pale-mottled Willow, Nutmeg, Muslin and Garden Pebble. Common Swift the most abundant of the night.

We had a thunderstorm in Ipswich at about 7.30pm, producing about 7mm of rain, pity, as I too thought it was looking good up until that point. Just put a trap out in the garden as it still felt warm at dusk, 34sp recorded which seems to be around the average number about at the moment which is still very low I feel for the time of year. Nothing really of note caught.
