Always check the trash before you throw it out…

Dewick’s Plusia from last night. Only wish it had been alive when I found it!

Anyone know how scarce or otherwise this sp is for Suffolk? The web-site gives the last record as 2008 in Eye (not that far from me in Mendlesham Green) but there must have been more recent records?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve, I’ve had two in recent years. Allan in Kessingland one this year. I would say there is a couple or so a year for Suffolk of late. Nice moth though!

Thanks, Keith – much appreciated. I saw that Waring & Townsend stated ‘about 50 records’ but that’s the 2003 first edition and I was pretty sure it was becoming more regular (presumably again due to climate change). I intend to upgrade to the 3rd edition; will be interesting to see if the write-up has been amended.

This moth is now thought to be resident in some parts of Britain now, possibly even in west Suffolk as there have been a few records out there the last few years. Still waiting for my first one here at IGC!
