Xylostella influx.

Looks like there may have been an influx of Plutella xylostella, saw a number today flushed from long grass here at IGC. Numbers have been noted elsewhere, reported on the Atropos website. This despite the dreadful weather!

Yes Neil, I have been to Beccles today and there were plenty to be seen. At home they are widespread, probably low hundreds just at home.

Everything you touch in the garden they fly up in numbers. They must have arrived with the storm last night.

There were hoards here yesterday afternoon caught up on the strong winds. I just saw 9 this afternoon while standing playing ball with the dog, on grass no more than 3 inches tall.

Prompted by these sightings, I’ve just popped into my garden here in Ipswich town centre and easily disturbed 10 from a nettle patch. Clearly a big overnight influx.
