Emerald surprise.

Amazed to find a fresh Blotched emerald in the trap this morning. Another example of an unusual second emergence moth.

Yes I think this year will be remembered for the unseasonal species during autumn. On the Footman front I have had, Rosy, Common, Scarce and Buff this autumn. Not great on the migrants yet though this year and still no Four-spotted for my site. A nice micro at Snape Warren recently, Bucculatrix cristatella. My Depressaria at Snape was a little disappointing. Hoped to see daucella as the foodplant is there but it turned out to be a badiella and then caught one at home. The one at home was however well marked and dissection was not required.
