Metalampra italica in Woolpit …

I had a very nice surprise in the trap this morning in the form of Metalampra italica. After one at Bramfield in Aug 2010, then 3 together at Dunwich in Aug 2013, this appears to be the first record for West Suffolk (VC26). I also took my second Tree-lichen Beauty for the garden.

You’re having a good run of excellent records!

Hello Keith. It would appear so :-)

I’ve had to amend my original posting slightly. Matthew kindly pointed out that the first Suffolk record was taken by Robin Harvey at Bramfield, and not Minsmere as I first thought. He also thinks Robin has taken another italica this year so there’s every chance you could pick one up too.

Well done again there Paul, another good moth for you. Plenty of moths in my traps here but nothing too exciting, 4 Tree-lichen beauty (almost certainly resident in the area), 2 Ling pug and Agriphila selasella the best I got. Straw underwing now on the wing too.
Still waiting for another new moth for the site this year with only the Blossom underwing caught in March an addition. That’s the way it goes sometimes!

    Neil
