Epermenia chaerophylella larva on Hogweed

I was out for a lunch-time walk in Tattingstone, near Alton Water during the week and spotted some blotches on Hogweed, which turned out to be due to some Epermenia chaerophylella larvae. This is the first time I’ve found this species as a larva even though I’ve kept my eyes open for it in the past. Something to look out for if you’re out and about in the current sunshine.

You may also come across the pretty tortrix Pammene aurana on the flowers of Hogweed as this is still on the wing.
