Took a lunchtime stroll which saw me walking back down Broom Hill in Hadleigh. Along just the one path I counted at least 70+ Burnet moths … which I’m tempted to put down as Narrow-bordered … nectaring in small groups on the emerging thistle heads. I only had my mobile with me so apologies for image quality but I hope you get the idea.

Paul, I have just been out on Burgate Great Green seeing if a lure would attract any Red-belted Clearwings around a group of old crab apples. No luck there but a few five spotted burnets were on the wing. I assume these are Narrow-bordered Five-spot Burnets but the one I captured and examined had fused middle spots (more a character of Five-spot Burnet according to the book).
