Night of 05/05/2013 at IGC – an almost empty trap.

The 125w MV run in the garden last night was found to be pretty empty this morning, despite it feeling fairly warm. Was no cloud cover however. 6sp, 12 moths in all and nothing exciting to report really! Hope things improve soon.

I also had high hopes of yesterday evening but was disappointed with the cool, clear conditions. Managed 24 moths of 10 species including my first Pale Prominent, Coxcomb Prominent, Scorched Carpet and Muslin Moth of the year. Maybe tonight will be better…

Very quiet too last night, while out at Blundeston. Four traps, 9 species from 9-10.30. Most common was Early Grey with three, then the Police, with two seen together, checking there wasn’t a rave going on as there was the last bank holiday at this location. All other species were singles! Packed up early as so cool!

No, last night (the 6th) was even poorer than the night before! I gave up after an hour or so having added Pebble Prominent and Knot Grass to the year list, but with precious little else.
