As it was bright and sunny today, I had a look for Adela cuprella in the willow clump that I found them last year. Using the binoculars I managed to pick out 5 on the yellow willow blossoms most of them with white antennae, indicating males. Even though it was warm and sunny there was no evidence of any flying.

I had my first one this afternoon Brian at the golf course. It was quite active, flying around over the blossoms. Didn’t see any more so I think they have only just come out. I had to wait a short while before seeing the moth so if anyone does go out looking it is worth waiting a while around flowering bushes as they don’t fly all the time. Binoculars are essential as well!
Took a walk to Staverton Lake today 24th, a site where Neil has seen them before. I saw thru’ binoculars around 10 individuals of both sexes flying and resting on willow blossom in the warm sunshine. A pleasant first encounter with this species.
