Nice to find the trap left out in the garden last night was full of moths this morning. 75sp trapped, a good count for this time of year, with a few nice bits and bobs seen: Feathered gothic, Hedge rustic, Eudonia angustea, Streak (first for year). Unexpected was a Dark arches, not normally seen at this time of year.

The Suffolk Moth Group meeting at Elveden was also a very good night, with over 90 species recorded from the 5 traps put out. There were also some species seen there that you wouldn’t normally expect including Green silver lines, Riband wave, Plain wave, Large emerald, Clay triple lines. Other interesting species seen included Tawny wave, Lunar yellow underwing, Archer’s dart, Toadflax pug, Crambus hamella, Square-spotted clay, Dotted clay.
