Lackford Lakes Moth Night – 19th May 2012

Although conditions looked good when I left Ipswich for this meeting the rain started as I got close to Bury St Edmunds. Just Paul Bryant and myself turned up and as it continued to rain we cancelled the event. There were still a few moths flying in the rain as I headed back.

I got my dates mixed up and thought it was Dunwich this week. Wasn’t until I got to Lowestoft stopped for fuel and checked my phone calendar that I realised this. So I diverted to Beccles Common where the weather stayed fine and trapped 22 species. New for the year were May Highflyer, Lime-speck Pug, Pale-shouldered Brocade, Knot Grass and Z. isertana.
New ones in the garden trap last night were Bright-line Brown-eye, Garden Carpet and D. angustoriana.
    So the evening wasn’t wasted.
