National Status : Common

Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 3)

Distribution and abundance : Local, mainly in the Brecks and Sandlings

Habitats : Heathland, fens, woodland, scrub and gardens

Flight Period : Single-brooded; literature gives June to July with occasional second partial brood late August to September. Figures from Suffolk records are not clear but recorded numbers peak from July to early August.

Larval foodplants : Common Nettle and Hop

Morley's Final Catalogue : Less common than the last kind. Hitherto noted at Ipswich (bred in 1893 - Morley), Hacheston, Stowmarket, Bury, Tuddenham (Sparke) and Southwold (Ctw).

Wingspan details : Forewing 14-18mm, Wingspan 34-40mm
