Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 1)

Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common

Habitats : Grassland, heathland, open woodland areas, fens, scrub and gardens

Flight Period : Double-brooded; May to July and August to September

Larval foodplants : Various herbaceous plants

Morley's Final Catalogue : (Morley states for Vines' Rustic) a recent immigrant to the south coast

Aston's Additions : In 1937 considered a recent immigrant to the south coast and first captured in Suffolk by Mr. P. J. Burton, at Benacre on 3.viii.1948. Later taken at Needham Market on May 26th, 1952 by Messrs. J. and G. Burton (Trans. S. N. S. Vol. VIII, pt. II, p. 77) who helped Mr. Chipperfield and myself to obtain a series at light on Staverton heather, 30.viii.1953 (Trans. S.N.S., Vol. VIII, pt. II, p. 78).

Wingspan details : Forewing 13-15mm, Wingspan 32-34mm
