The Moths of Suffolk
2181 Silver Cloud, Egira conspicillaris, (Linnaeus, 1758)

National Status : Notable Na

Local Status : Uncertain (SMP Status 4)

Habitats : Open woodland, orchards and scrub

Flight Period : Single-brooded; mid-April to mid-May

Larval foodplants : A wide variety of plants

Records : No recent records

Comments : It seems that the proof that this species occurred in the county is rather flimsy.

Morley's Final Catalogue : No confirmation has arisen during the past half-century of the doubtful record at ' Ipswich' of this species by Mr. Garrett (Bloomfield's Lepid. Suff. 1890, p. 17), who died in 1888. Suffolk is thus its most northerly extension from central Europe.
