Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 1)

Distribution and abundance : Widespread and not uncommon

Habitats : Broad-leaved woodland, scrub, fens. heathland and hedgerows on chalky or clay soils

Flight Period : Double-brooded; late April to June and late July to early September

Larval foodplants : Spindle

Morley's Final Catalogue : Of such fairly frequent occurrence as to need no localising in 1890. Bentley Woods (Gibbs); not common around Ipswich, but fairly numerous at Monks Soham light in July (Mly); Sotterly in 1936 (Gd). Almost unknown in Lothingland, and unrecorded of late years from the west.

Wingspan details : Forewing 12-14mm, Wingspan 25-30mm
