National Status : Common

Local Status : Locally extinct (SMP Status 4)

Habitats : Grassland on chalky soils, other grassy areas, hedgerows and woodland edges

Flight Period : Single-brooded; June to July

Larval foodplants : Pignut, on the flowers and seeds

Morley's Final Catalogue : Late confirmation has emerged of the Revd. H. Harpur Crewe's record of this species' occurrence at Battisford, circa 1858: Mr. Goddard secured one at Mildenhall in 1936. The Earthnut flourishes all over our County.

Wingspan details : Forewing 12-15mm, Wingspan 27-30mm
