Distribution and abundance : Fairly widespread and frequent

Habitats : In a wide variety, including heathland, woodland, scrub, fens, grassland and gardens

Flight Period : Single-brooded; June to mid-August

Larval foodplants : Sallows and aspens

Morley's Final Catalogue : Wide spread, frequent in marshes among sallow. Bures; Dodnash (Hkg); Bentley Woods; Ipswich, Brandeston; at Monks Soham light in July 1906, only (Mly); Needham. Worlingham and Fritton (Crf), but not recently in Lothingland.

Wingspan details : Forewing 16-19mm, Wingspan 32-40mm
