Distribution and abundance : Reasonably widespread and common

Habitats : Broad-leaved woodland,scrub, heathland and gardens

Flight Period : Single-brooded; May to early July

Larval foodplants : Various deciduous trees and shrubs

Morley's Final Catalogue : Broadly distributed, but by no means frequent. Bentley Woods, on sugar on 1 October 1898; Ipswich occasionally Monks Soham, on lime trunk 25 May 1969; Beccles; &c.

Wingspan details : Forewing 14-16mm, Wingspan 27-31mm
