Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 1)

Distribution and abundance : Local

Habitats : Alder carr, damp woodland, scrub, hedgerows and gardens

Flight Period : Single-brooded; June to early August

Larval foodplants : Alder and Blackthorn, also birches, hawthorn, plum and apple

Morley's Final Catalogue : Pretty well confined to marshes and an alder diet with us, but very wide spread. Not of frequent occurrence about Ipswich; Coddenham, in Monks Soham paddock, Barnby Broad (Mly); Beccles (Mr); &c.

Wingspan details : Forewing 12-15mm, Wingspan 22-28mm
