Habitats : Woodlands and heathlands, hedgerows and gardens

Flight Period : Single-brooded; July to August

Records : St Olaves (H Jenner, 1986-7), Ipswich (G List, 1986), Barnby (N Muddeman, 1990, 2003-4), Kings Forest (R Eley, 1996), Bradfield Woods (R Eley, 1991 & 1996), Weston(N Muddeman, 1990, 1996, 1998, 2000 & 2002), Felixstowe (J Nicholls, 1997), Ipswich (N Sherman, 29.vii.2001), Barsham (N Muddeman, 1999), Brandon (G Austin, 2.vii.2002 & 9.vii.2002)

Larval foodplants : Leaves of many plants, particularly woody species

Morley's Final Catalogue : Both (referring to this species and Common Marbled Carpet) of quite frequent and about equally common occurrence, from Bentley Woods to Gorleston and Tuddenham Fen. Many at dusk, but few at light, in Monks Soham; once or twice on sugar near Ipswich.
