Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 2)

Distribution and abundance : Local

Habitats : Broadleaved woodland, scrub and gardens

Flight Period : Single-brooded; September to May, although hibernates from December to February

Larval foodplants : Various broadleaved trees

Comments : Appears to have become more common in recent years

Morley's Final Catalogue : Rare and very local; probably not mixed with the last kind, than which all the wings are distinctively darker. Woodbridge (Greene). Stowmarket (Crewe); Needham and Bury (Skepper). Unnoticed with us since 1890.

Wingspan details : Forewing 14-17mm, Wingspan 30-36mm
