Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common

Habitats : Grassland, fens and woodland

Flight Period : Single-brooded; mid-July to August

Larval foodplants : various herbaceous plants including bramble (Rubus), knapweeds (Centaurea), plantains (Plantago), Strawberry (Fragaria vesca), thistles (Cirsium) and Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris)

Morley's Final Catalogue : Both (referring to E. crocealis and U. lutealis) quite common everywhere in July all over the County at light at Monks Soham.
