The Moths of Suffolk
1373 Paratalanta pandalis, Bordered Pearl, (Hübner, 1825)

National Status : Nationally Scarce A

Local Status : Rare migrant (SMP Status 3)

Habitats : Open woodland

Flight Period : Single-brooded; June

Larval foodplants : Wood Sage (Teucrium scorodonia), Goldenrod (Solidago virgaurea) and Marjoram (Origanum vulgare)

Records : Lakenheath (D Young, 1996)

Morley's Final Catalogue : The apparent rarity, or even possible absence, of this merely somewhat local species, in Suffolk is remarkable: Teucrium and Solidago abound. Yet we possess but one old record of its capture at Shelland by Crewe about 1860, regarded as doubtful by Bloomfield.

Wingspan details : Wingspan 25-29mm
