National Status : Common

Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 1)

Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common

Habitats : Fens, marshes, grassland and woodland

Flight Period : Single-brooded; mid-June to August

Larval foodplants : various water plants including Canadian Waterweed (Elodea canadensis), pondweeds (Potomogeton), stoneworts (Chara) and filamentous algae

Morley's Final Catalogue : Apparently local, but certainly very widely distributed, at least in the cast : At electric lights in Ipswich during 1895 (Pyett) Aldeburgh (Wrt); Dunwich (Hkr); Southwold (Ctw), Easton Broad in late July 1900 (Mly); Lowestoft (Bd) ; at light 'ln Bungay' during 1903 (Mn). Brandon (Barret).
