Habitats : Grassland, fens, open woodland, heathland, waste places and gardens

Larval foodplants : In the roots of thistles (Carduus and possibly Cirsium)

Morley's Final Catalogue : Abundant everywhere among thistles in dry pastures in July.

Wingspan details : Wingspan 15-24mm
