The Moths of Suffolk
831 Caryocolum proximum, (Haworth, 1828)

National Status : pRDB3

Local Status : Uncertain, no recent records (SMP Status 3)

Flight Period : Single-brooded, late June to August

Larval foodplants : Common Mouse-ear (Cerastium fontanum) and Common Chickweed (Stellaria media)

Morley's Final Catalogue : A very local kind, in July. It is thought by Bloomfield possible that the record from Leiston before 1890 (Grey) may actually refer to the next species. Not noted later. [The present species was erroneously recorded from Ipswich, two or three examples a day in August 1930, as P. junctella (Trans. SNS. i, 108).]
