Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common

Habitats : In a wide variety, especially indoors

Flight Period : Multiple broods, March to November outdoors, any month indoors

Larval foodplants : Dead animal and vegetable matter including stored cereals and grains, rotten wood and paper, dead insects, general refuse and detritus in bird's nests

Morley's Final Catalogue : Ubiquitous in houses, feeding on all kinds of dry refuse but never cloths. Emerges on 14 March and is little seen after July.
