Distribution and abundance : Local

Habitats : Rough grassland, wasteland, roadside verges, woodland rides and fens

Flight Period : Single-brooded, mid-June to mid-August

Larval foodplants : Creeping Thistle (Cirsium arvense) and less often on other thistles (Carduus and Cirsium) or burdock (Arctium)

Morley's Final Catalogue : Rather a local species, feeding on thistles. Taken at Beccles after 1890 (Crf) and at Bentley in 1935 (Whit).Not distinguished as species from C. therinella until 1942 (Toll). Without mention of a foodplant of Cirsium, Carduus, Arctium records prior to 1942 cannot be accepted.
