Local Status : Resident (SMP Status 3) Distribution and abundance : Widespread and common Habitats : Hedgerows, Woodland, scrub, heathland, fens and other areas where the foodplant occurs Flight Period : Double-brooded; May to June and August, single-brooded in the north Larval foodplants : Hawthorn (Crataegus), apple (Malus), Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia), Wild Service-tree (Sorbus torminalis), also Wild Pear (Pyrus communis), Common Whitebeam (Sorbus aria), birch (Betula) Morley's Final Catalogue : Common at Ipswich in 1897 (Pyett) and bred there in 1932-4 (Whit.); Orford in July 1902 (Gibbs); Aldeburgh (Ctw); Leiston, Glemham Magna, Lowestoft.
