We’re trying something a bit different this year by starting off looking at some saltmarsh in the morning. This should give a chance to see some different species to those normally seen.
We’ll try for lunch at a nearby pub although it will be a Sunday and pubs could be busy. The afternoon session is likely to be at somewhere like Newbourne Springs for a site with a better selection of trees and plants.

]]>The SWT have organised a Summer Moth course at Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s Foxburrow Farm reserve for Saturday, July 1st with Edward Jackson, who will be trapping the night before and helping both beginners and improvers to ID moths and understand more about them.
The following link gives more information about the course and how to book:

]]>Organised at fairly short notice in Feb/March – mild evenings above 3 degrees (hopefully even milder) between 6pm -8pm approx.
I am looking for a few volunteers to help with some survey visits to Kings Forest looking at rotovated plots on forest rides and clearings to see whether lunar yellow underwing is present. This will help to inform Forestry Commission management work and the Shifting Sands Heritage Lottery Project.
Please contact Sharon Hearle on shearle@butterfly-conservation.org Tel 07920131526 if you might be able to help
]]>At some stage I will temporarily stop the ability to post to the blog while it is transferred over to the new site. The transfer is unlikely to take long.

]]>Lunch will be at a local hostelry and then we will be moving on to a second site for another session in the afternoon.

]]>Well worth keeping your eyes open for this species if you come across any Field Scabious in the new few weeks.
